Coalition Responds to Rick O’Donnell “Paper”
The Coalition responded today to Rick O’Donnel’s paper “analyzing” the performance of professors at Texas A&M and UT Austin through a “scientific” classification process. Since his firing by the UT System, O’Donnell found the time to assign creative labels to the faculty of both institutions dividing them into five categories: “dodgers,” “coasters,” “sherpas,” “pioneers” and “stars.”
A statement by the Coalition asserts that while there is an ever present need for improvement, name calling is childish and in no way a means to achieve a positive end goal at our Texas public institutions of higher education.
“The data that the Boards of Regents of The University of Texas and Texas A&M Systems have made public is now being misused to diminish the national stature of our state’s premiere public institutions,” said the Coalition.
